Costs & Cost Sharing

The overall goal of the Colorado Riparian Habitat Mapping project is to obtain a statewide map of all riparian vegetation in Colorado.  Mapping riparian vegetation using aerial photography and photo interpretive techniques is relatively cost effective on a per acre basis (approximately $0.05/acre).  However, with the realization that it costs between $1,600.00 - $1,800.00 per quad to delineate and digitally process the riparian vegetation data, and knowing that there are approximately 1,800 USGS 7.5' quadrangles in Colorado comes the reality that funding is a limiting factor in achieving our goal.

Costs of Mapping Riparian Vegetation on a Per Quad Basis
ITEM COSTS
Materials $50.00
NAPP Color Infrared Aerial Photos (10 per Quad) $240.00
Photo Interpretation & Digital Processing $1,300.00 - $1,500.00
TOTAL $1,600.00 - $1,800.00

As we've indicated in the Introduction and on the Partners pages, partnerships are the key to achieving our overall objective.  This effort would not be possible for the Division of Wildlife to undertake entirely on its own.  We are always looking for ways to partner with interested entities whether they be Federal, State, or Local government, or private non-profit interests.

If you have an interest in cost sharing with the Colorado Division of Wildlife to fund the  mapping of riparian quads please feel free to contact one of the GIS Specialists listed below using the map that depicts their area of geographic responsibility as a guide.  You may also contact the Riparian Coordinator for cost share information, general information, or if you have any questions not addressed on this site.  We hope to continue our efforts into the future and thank you for your interest.  Hopefully, this site is easy to navigate and proves useful to you.  We would welcome any comments you might have regarding this site especially those that might help us improve it's overall utility.  Thanks.
